CSM Chicago was recently honored as "Friend of the Center" by a
local ministry site, The Carole Robertson Center. The Center was established
in 1976 by parents in the Chicago community wanting a safe child care program.
The organization "has evolved into a comprehensive family development agency
addressing a variety of needs".
The "Friend of the Center" Award "honors corporate and community
groups or individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to Carole Robertson
Center. Awardees show their dedication to the Center's work over time with
volunteer, in-kind, monetary, and other support." It is with great joy that the
CSM City Directors accepted this award and look forward to the continued
relationship between CSM volunteer groups and the Carole Robertson Center.
The following is an excerpt from the benefit program:
CSM is a generous supporter
of the Center and sends volunteer groups to the Carole Robertson Center each
summer, spring and sometimes in between. These groups are made up of youth
from churches throughout the nation. They have contributed more than 3,000
service hours to the Center over the past year. CSM has become regular and
welcomed visitors over the past three years. They provide extra hands in our
classrooms and the extra individual attention that both our children and teachers
appreciate. Group members have even gone on to become pen pals of program classrooms.
CSM's mission is to offer their time, energy and sweat in support of urban community
development organizations such as the Center, thereby becoming a part of of the
solution. CSM is responsible for connecting organizations to a variety of hands-on
ministry opportunities to ensure that volunteers' time in Chicago is spent supplying
substantial help. In doing so, CSM has been of great help to
the Center, creating treasured friendships with our staff and children, and becoming
a beloved friend of the Center.
