Josh Griep

Josh was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He just finished his degree in Music Production and is working on a BA in Youth Ministry. Josh has been on a shlew of missions trips to Mexico and West Virginia where he built houses, connected with people and worked with VBS. He has traveled the US doing sound and production for youth conferences. During the summer Josh works at various camps and volunteers at an after school program with the most awesome (and wild!) inner city kids. Things that Josh enjoys are the aggressive sound of the Fender Rhodes, shady looking bus stops and Joy. “I am passionate and fired up to help youth serve, grasp the urban culture, and fuel their love of Jesus. I hope to grow my own love for people, youth, culture and challenge myself through serving at CSM. Most importantly I want to draw closer to God.”

Jean Schawaroch

Jean grew up just outside of Washington, DC, playing sports and running amok. She graduated from James Madison University in Virginia in May of 2008 with a Masters degree in Education. She is a licensed Social Studies teacher and a bona fide nerd. Throughout college, Jean worked with kids of all ages tutoring and coaching Special Olympics. More recently, she was able to live with and serve kids in Peru. Jean loves history, Spanish, traveling, awesomely bad (badly acted) movies and will always be a Redskins fan. “I am particularly excited to serve in a city I have never visited and to have the opportunity to completely trust God in everything. More than anything, I am excited to com to Chicago simply to love people.”

Tim Van Alstyne

Tim was born in Calcutta, India, but he grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He went to university in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada where he studied a little bit of everything—philosophy, psychology, history, English and religion. Tim has been on missions trips to Amsterdam, Holland and to northern India. He has worked at various ministries, including ministries with children and youth, ministries with street youth in Ontario, and with adults and children with special needs. Tim likes to explore new places. He is only occasionally distracted by shiny objects and mixed metaphors. “I love getting to know all kinds of different people—hearing their stories and learning about what they love. I believe that God is always sneaking up on us and writing himself into our stories when we least expect it, and I look forward to seeing what he is going to come up with next.”
