Toronto

This month we’re heading on over to Toronto! Be sure to visit our city's page for more information about serving with us in the “Megacity”.

News from the Toronto Team

Toronto is one of the most multicultural cities in the world. Since the World Cup began, you can see all the different flags representing all the various countries fighting for the championship. We personally are cheering for Serbia, Greece, France & Mexico (mainly because we live in an area filled with these ethnicities represented).

One of the things, that all this brings to mind is “the ends of the earth”. In Acts 1:8, it says “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” We have been witnesses and can attest to the things that Christ has been doing in our city. There have been many healings, salvation decisions at ministry sites and many new connections with new people groups.

For example, we have been partnering with a ministry that ministers to Somali Refugees for about 10 years and in the last 2 years they have expanded their ministry to people from Egypt, India, Pakistan and other countries. We are now ministering and tutoring children with Muslim, Sikh, Hindu & Buddhist religious backgrounds. What an opportunity to show Christ’s love! The amazing thing is that these families know we are Christians and they are the ones inviting us into their homes. They will even ask our groups, “Do you pray to God?” And they genuinely want to hear how you worship God.

Another ministry, The Scott Mission, has Bible studies in 6 different languages and they regularly see miracles and healings on a daily basis!

Yet another ministry, 10 churches in an ethnically diverse neighbourhood decided to reach out to the children of these various countries and put on an affordable soccer league which focuses on fun and learning great values that are Biblically based, with stories and verses to go along with that.

A few of our ministry partners have a sense that God is moving and that big things are yet to come. How amazing would it be if all believers of Christ in Toronto were to “be witnesses” to all the areas around us? And if all of those people were to go back to their countries and “be witnesses” to their people and spread the great news of God’s amazing love and grace “to the ends of the earth”...what kind of world this would be?

So as groups come to minister and to be ministered to in Toronto, our prayer is that they would be incredible witnesses to those around them and to be able to share how truly amazing our God’s love is!
