Highlight: San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area
|
|
There is a mural near our Oakland housing site that is themed "Beautiful Struggle."
It is a rich colorful mural showing the struggle that many folks in Oakland have gone through
over the last few decades. Recently, as I have been driving to and from our housing site, I have been taking more
notice of this mural and I am also becoming more aware of the Beautiful Struggle of the people in the Bay Area.

Serve in Denver! |
|
CSM will begin hosting groups to serve in Denver this spring! We invite
you to come be a part of the action. Learn more about this amazing city from our founding City Director, Keysha Boggess:
"Founded during the "Pikes Peak or Bust Gold
Rush" of 1859, Denver has been called the "Gateway
to the West." It is a city that prides itself on being clean and active. If you look closely, however,
you will find the same struggles and problems that affect any other urban area. Denver is struggling
with issues like gentrification and homelessness is on the rise. People with low income are being displaced
from their housing as the city continues it's "urban renewal" programs. As it becomes more and more popular
to live, work and play in the city property becomes very valuable. Sadly, it is the poor that are affected
by this many times because they just don't have a voice that is loud enough."
