How exciting a new year is! 2009 has brought about many new things here at CSM. We have a new city site (Denver), new ministry partners, new staff, new groups, new opportunities to serve the Lord in urban centers throughout North America!

CSM would like to welcome Jennifer Peake - the new Home Office Director! Jennifer comes to us from the Bay Area and brings a huge heart for ministry, superb organizational skills and a genuine love for the Lord. You can get to know Jennifer more by visiting our Home Office Team page.

City Highlight: San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area

There is a mural near our Oakland housing site that is themed "Beautiful Struggle." It is a    rich colorful mural showing the struggle that many folks in Oakland have gone through over the last few decades. Recently, as I have been driving to and from our housing site, I have been taking more notice of this mural and I am also becoming more aware of the Beautiful Struggle of the people in the Bay Area.

Come Serve in Denver!

CSM will begin hosting groups to serve in Denver this spring! We invite you to come be a part of the action. Learn more about this amazing city from our founding City Director, Keysha Boggess:

"Founded during the "Pikes Peak or Bust Gold Rush" of 1859, Denver has been called the "Gateway to the West." It is a city that prides itself on being clean and active. If you look closely, however, you will find the same struggles and problems that affect any other urban area. Denver is struggling with issues like gentrification and homelessness is on the rise. People with low income are being displaced from their housing as the city continues it's "urban renewal" programs. As it becomes more and more popular to live, work and play in the city property becomes very valuable. Sadly, it is the poor that are affected by this many times because they just don't have a voice that is loud enough."
