Jennifer Ellis

Jeni is originally from Apple Valley, CA. She is currently living in Ontario, California and going to Providence Christian College where she is a Junior, majoring in Bible and Theology. When she was in high school, Jeni took several missions trips to Mexico, one to Russia, and two trips with CSM to Chicago and Washington D.C. Since she graduated high school in 2005, she has worked with the youth in her church, mainly with high schoolers, but also some junior highers. She also lead a Thanksgiving dinner that her church put on for the needy in their community. Jeni loves to have a good time playing beach volleyball, singing in the car and dancing her crazy good (haha) dance moves! She has had a heart for inner city ministry ever since she went on CSM trips in high school and loves nothing more than hanging out with the youth group kids at her church!! “I can’t wait to work alongside with both CSM and students. Being an alumni of past CSM trips while I was in high school, brings me great joy to see what God will do in the lives of students as He worked in my life on those trips. I pray that the teen’s eyes, as well as my own, can be opened to the corruption of sin on our lives and see the hope we have in Christ and that others can have to while also understanding the role in which we can play in helping others.”

Katie Phelps

Katie grew up in Flagstaff, AZ, attended Northern Arizona University as an undergrad and got her degree in Elementary Education. She is now entering her second year of graduate school and is majoring in English with an emphasis in Ceative Writing. She’s been on two short term mission trips to Baja California with Global Recordings, Costa Rica with Alternative Missions, and attended a CSM trip in summer 2005 in Philadelphia with her campus ministry (her first mission trip ever)! Katie is still learning a lot about working with junior high and high school students, but has taught different ages as she trained to be a teacher and currently teaches college freshman. She loves working with international students particularly, and this year was apart of a ministry at her church called English Corner, which reaches out to the international community at NAU. In her free time, she loves to hang out with friends and her amazing boyfriend, swing dance, read, write, and hike all over beautiful Arizona. “With CSM this summer in Houston, I not only really want to connect with the students as their faith in Christ is challenged and developed, but I also want to be challenged in my walk with Jesus as well.”

Jeffery Song

Jeffery was born in Seoul, South Korea, but was raised for most of his life in Houston, TX. He will be a sophomore at Johns Hopkins University pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering. He has been across the border in Reynosa and Oaxaca, Mexico for mission trips. Jeffery was president of his youth group senior year and taught Bible study to junior high boys. In college, he is an active member of Hopkins Christian Fellowship (InterVarsity) and also a member of WorthyLife Baptist Church. Jeffery loves watching and playing all kinds of sports and is a diehard fan of the Rockets and Texans. He also enjoys doing puzzles (word, jigsaw, etc.) in his spare time. He can solve a Rubik’s cube in less than 30 seconds!! “I am really looking forward to serving in the city I grew up in and helping students to experience God in new and fascinating ways this summer.”

Nathan Williams

Nathan grew up in a small town called Satanta. He is attending Friends University and will be a senior this fall. His major is Religion and Philosophy with an emphasis in Youth Ministry. Nathan has been on four mission trips – three of which were to CSM Houston with our Campus Ministries at Friends. Through our Campus Ministries program he's been a part of the Youth Ministry Team and the Cornerstone Crew. Last summer Nathan got an opportunity to work as a youth intern with the First Baptist Church of Augusta, KS, which was an amazing experience. Last but not least this past year he's been blessed to teach a college Sunday school class with the same Church. He is a big fan of anything to do with sports. Friends and family are extremely important to him as well. “God’s moving all over the world and has been since time began, but I can’t wait to see the way He moves in the hearts of the people I will be blessed to share life with in Houston!”

Lauren Wong

Lauren is a senior at The University of Texas at Austin majoring in Public Relations. She grew up in Dallas, and has been on several missions trips with her youth group to Harlingen, Texas, as well as a CSM Houston trip! In her college fellowship, she’s led Bible studies for the past two years. Lauren loves hanging out with people, so she’s always helped out at her home church with their youth group. She also loves eating, reading good books, dancing, and writing. “When I first attended CSM Houston, I had such an incredible experience that I knew I had to come back. This summer, I’m looking forward to meeting people of all ages and backgrounds. I’m excited to hear their stories, learn and share our life experiences, and just see how God will work in me, our staff, the youth groups and the people at the ministry sites!”
