CSM Houston has been honored by two of our ministry site partners for their respective
"Volunteer Group of the Year" awards. |
|
Medical Bridges, Inc.
is a non-profit organization dedicated to procuring medical and surgical supplies
and equipment for donation to qualified providers of charitable medical care in
developing countries.
Our CSM groups work with the very friendly staff of Medical Bridges
to sort and re-package supplies that would otherwise be discarded here in the
US. The supplies are then shipped to developing nations that are in
desperate need for healthcare. The partnership between CSM &
MB goes back several years now and it truly is a beautiful arrangement for each
of us. Our groups get to participate in a global effort and catch a
vision of their expanding impact around the world. MB relies heavily
on volunteers to process the massive amount of supplies they receive and ship
out each month. CSM is glad to provide groups of willing workers to
support their beautiful work. We will be honored at their annual fundraising
gala on November 4, 2005. Learn more about Medical Bridges at
www.medicalbridges.org.

SEARCH, an acronym for Service and Emergency Aid Resource
Center for the Homeless,
serves Houston by assisting homeless people
with dignity and providing those who choose to change their lives, the resources
necessary to become productive citizens. Founded in 1989, SEARCH
has become the leading homeless service provider in our community, serving more
than 2,300 men, women and children each month. CSM groups serve with SEARCH
through a number of their outreach efforts. |
|
We interact and play bingo with clients waiting for services in their
resource center; we assist in the classrooms and help lead fieldtrips for the children
of the homeless at SEARCH's House of Tiny Treasures; we sort clothes and perform
various tasks for their clothing distribution site; and we throw parties and
play games with the residents of their on-site housing program. SEARCH also has
a very friendly and helpful staff and our groups always feel welcomed and needed.
We were honored (and surprised!) at their Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast
on October 14, 2005. You can learn more about SEARCH at www.searchproject.org.
