CSM’s response to the Katrina Aftermath
Like you, we want to assist in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in any way we can. Here is what CSM is doing to see how we, and your group, might be able to help:
- Our City Directors are checking on efforts our ministry partners are now making and/or planning to help Katrina refugees who will temporarily or permanently resettle in their communities. (Houston is clearly the CSM city most likely to need major ongoing assistance.) We will alert you via our website as we identify opportunities where CSM serving groups are needed and wanted
- We are also checking with our ministry partners who may need extraordinary help to fulfill their ongoing responsibilities due to some or all of their staff relocating to the Gulf Coast to provide skilled assistance. For example, City Team Ministries in the Philadelphia area has sent 12 of their top staff to Louisiana and Mississippi to assist with shelter efforts in those areas. This means their remaining staff must shoulder extra responsibilities as they continue their outreach to homeless and at-risk men, women, and children in the Philly region
Feel free to also contact our home office directly via email at info@csm.org or by phone at 1-949-248-8200 for the latest information on Katrina-related service opportunities developing in our CSM cities. Thank you in advance for your willingness to be Jesus’ hands and feet at a very difficult time for so many of our fellow citizens.
Blessings,
Noel Becchetti, President
