Los Angeles Spring 2008 Team

CJ Browne
CJ is from right here in Los Angeles! He attended the Media Art Academy in Southern California and has used his artistic talent to create a couple of large murals at the CSM LA housing site. CJ felt called to missions so he joined CSM for the spring. We are blessed to have him here in LA.

Ashley Salter
Ashley is from Oak Grove, Alabama and is student in Tuscaloosa at the University of Alabama where she is majoring in Collaborative Special Education. She was blessed in her freshman year of college to have been able to coach basketball and softball at her high school alma mater, Oak Grove High School, and then spend her sophomore year coaching basketball in Tuscaloosa at Open Door Christian School. She enjoys coaching because it brings opportunities to not only create athletes, but more importantly strong Christian women. Ashley loves meeting new people, good conversation, hot tea, hugs, naps, and basketball. Her big brother is her favorite person in the whole world for so many reasons, one being that he unknowingly inspired her to take the step of faith that lead her to the CSM. “Over the past few months I have felt like God has been calling me to draw closer to Him and to serve Him in a greater way. My hope is that through my experience with the CSM I will be able to give back and help others grow in their faith, while being challenged to grow in my own faith.”

Caitlin Scudder
Caitlin grew up in Trumbull, Connecticut and attended Bucknell University in Pensylvania, graduating in 2006 with a BS in Elementary Education. During college she volunteered at a homeless shelter near Bucknell and worked at a summer camp for homeless children in New York. After graduation, she spent a year in Uganda, living and working in an orphanage for children from IDP (internally displaced persons) camps. Besides ministry, Caitlin loves spending time outside, running, listening to music, going to the beach and wishing she knew how to surf, laughing with her friends, and being with her family. “In the past few years, I’ve learned more and more about the real Jesus someone who wasn’t afraid to cross cultural boundaries, to take risks, to live passionately, and to reach out to those whom society shunned. During my time with CSM, I want to love the people of Los Angeles the way Jesus calls us to.”

Takia Shoats
Takia is from Miami, FL and a graduate of Troy State University in Alabama with a degree in Business Information Systems. She recently received a certificate of completion from Kanakuk Institute which is a specialized youth ministry training program that emphasizes an integrating scriptural knowledge and practical application. Through this ministry Takia had the opportunity to go to the island of Trinidad were she served the community through service projects and sharing the Gospel. She has also had the privilege of working the past four summers for a ministry called Kids Across America. KAA is a christian sport camp were Takia shared the Gospel with thousands of kids from all over the United States. What Takia enjoys the most is being outdoors, spending time with friends and trying new things. “This Fall and Spring I hope to truly serve those around me and share with them the love of my life Jesus Christ.”

Susannah Sizemore
Susannah was born and mostly raised in a beautiful land faraway known as Kentucky. There she grew up with wonderful parents, two incredible brothers, and her sister-who is her best friend in the world! She graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2007 and has loved every moment of adventure since. She has traveled throughout Central America and DR Congo, Africa. Susannah loves learning new languages, laughing, playing outside, going to the beach, reading, riding the metro, and seeing the world. “I believe there is no greater pleasure in life than to serve Jesus Christ and am honored to take part in His mission in the city of Los Angeles with CSM.”
