| Philadelphia Summer Staff Team 2004 |
Sarah Vanacore - Sarah is a junior at Eastern University
in St. Davids, Pennslyvania about 20 minutes outside of Philly). She's
an English Literature major, with a minor in "every other class that I
like," which means, of course, no minor at all. Her hometown is Westboro,
Massachusetts, but she spent the first 13 years of her life on Long Island,
New York. In high school, she went on four missions trips, two with CSM,
and last summer worked as a counselor at Adirondack Camp Cherith. Sarah
likes folk-rock music, Italian food (it's in the genes!), hanging out
with homeless people, and good literature (James Joyce, Tennessee Williams,
and T.S. Eliot). Her favorite place in the world is the Adirondack Mountains,
but Philadelphia is catching up pretty quickly. She's looking forward
to learning Philly and its different ministries well, and is excited to
get to know the groups that are coming to serve. |
Jessica Rapp-Smith - Jessica is from McVeytown, PA
(a really small town). She's a senior at Eastern University and is a double
major in youth ministry and missions. In the past, she's ministered at
her home church, McVeytown Presbyterian Church, a number of after school
programs in the surrounding areas of Philly, and on different mission
trips to D.C., Toronto, up-state New York, and Haiti. One of her favorite
places is Ireland, where she went for spring break. She likes volleyball,
lots of foods, learning and doing art projects. She's ready to learn a
lot from God this summer. |
Beth Sauder - Beth is returning after serving
last summer here is Philly. She is from the extreme western part of Maryland
and is an elementary / middle school education major at Frostburg State
University where she's also a member of the cross-country team, track
team, and InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. After graduation, she plans
on teaching school in Africa or an inner city. God has given her so much,
and she wants to share His amazing love with everyone she meets. |
Carrie Petersen - Carrie is from Cedar Falls, Iowa
and just graduated from University of Tulsa with a degree in International
Business and German. Her missions experience includes a trip to Russia
last summer and founding UO's Habitat for Humanity chapter. As a part
of her worship team, Carrie played the djembe (ask her!). She loves the
color pink, traveling, crocheting and Ben and Jerry's "half baked". She's
excited to serve and help out this summer. |
Angela Inniger -Angela is from Arlington, OH and is
a senior majoring in Biology/Pre-physician assistant at Ohio Northern
University. Her missions experience includes Haiti and Habitat for Humanity
trips to Oklahoma and Arkansas. Her favorite things are enjoying peanut
butter and ice cream, sitting out on her roof at night, hanging out with
friends, running, and anything outdoors. She's thinking God is going to
"bust" her out of her comfort zone since she's not a big city kind of
girl, but she's looking forward to that as well as totally relying on
Him and loving the people she'll be meeting in Philly. |
Amanda Hood grew up in Arcadia, Louisiana, then moved
to Ruston (LA) to go to school. A graduate of Louisiana Tech University,
she majored in graphic design and minored in sociology. She plans to go
to seminary and then into full-time ministry. Her passions are people
(especially kids) and photography. Her missions experience includes Toronto,
Ruston, San Antonio and last summer as a CSM host in Houston, TX and this
last spring in Philadelphia. Next fall she'll intern with Wesley Foundation
at Louisiana Tech. |
