Katherine Barrington
Katherine is from Pittsburgh, PA and is attending Marietta College in southern Ohio. Her major is English but jokes that she is a double major in English and IVCF (InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, one of the Christian groups on campus). During spring of 2007 Katherine traveled to Jamaica with IVCF where she worked with students from different grades, sharing the Word with them, playing with them, and worshipping with them at their own Christian fellowship meetings. At school Katherine is a member of the student leadership team of the IVCF chapter so she is in a position to minister to many students on her college campus. While Katherine has some experience working with junior and senior high students and she is currently mostly involved with college-age students, she is really looking forward to spending time with many different age groups. Her interests range from random acts of creativity to watching medical TV series like ER and Scrubs. Katherine’s favorite animal, and by far favorite pet, is the guinea pig. “My goal, in working with CSM students, is to help them to experience God in the city of Philadelphia, to see Him at work in them and in those they encounter. I believe the summer is going to be a growing experience for me as well, and I look forward to sharing it with the other Philadelphia staff and with the CSM students I will be shepherding.”

Dan Claus
Dan is from Ada, MI and is a Religion major going into his junior year at Hope College in Holland, MI. In high school Dan went on a CSM trip to Philadelphia, and has been on other mission trips to places like Trinidad, Guatemala, Jackson MS and New Mexico. He is also a high school youth group leader in Holland, MI. Dan enjoys reading, throwing Frisbee, playing board games, playing baseball and being around people. “I am looking forward to following Jesus to serve the poor in Philadelphia this summer and helping students see God’s heart for the city.”

Anna Kate Gibbs
Anna Kate is from Chattanooga, TN. She has attended Carson Newman College and graduated in May 2008 with majors in Applied Psychology and Cross-Cultural Sociology. In the fall of 2008 she hopes to make Philadelphia her home while attending graduate school at Eastern University. Anna Kate worked with CSM in Chicago during the summer of 2006. She loved being on staff and learning about the diversity within cities. She looks forward to developing relationships with both the people at the ministry sites and the groups coming to experience Philadelphia. Her interests include hanging out with international students, learning about cultures different from her own and meaningful conversations. “I am excited about working with CSM again in the city of brotherly love.”

Scot Huber
Scot is from Harleysville, PA and is going to be a senior at Gordon College in MA where he is reading philosophy. He just returned from a year abroad studying at Oxford University in England. His passion for urban life and the poor has shifted greatly over the past year and he is excited to get to know the neighbors in Philadelphia he had ignored for so long. He has worked with youth groups in both the Philadelphia and Boston areas, and hopes to inspire the youth this summer to see Jesus among the poor as he has begun to. Scot loves photography, new music, anything passion fruit flavored, sleeping on couches, and dairy products. “It is such an honor to be serving and living among my neighbors here in Philadelphia. I cannot wait to continue the process of understanding the Gospel in context with the incoming student groups.”

Michelle Kreischer
Michelle is from Van Wert, Ohio and is attending Bowling Green State University pursuing a degree in music education. Although music is her concentration, mission work has always been a huge part of her life having worked in West Virginia, Monterrey Mexico, Philly, and Nashville (through CSM). Working with teenagers has always been a love of her’s so she has volunteered at summer bible schools, volunteered at a high school band camp for the past 3 summers, gave private lessons for the past 3 years, and helped lead many youth groups. Michelle has also taken part in a contemporary worship, out-reach dramas, and is currently part of IMPACT at BGSU. Although her life is very busy, Michelle enjoys reading, watching movies, being crafty, spending time with friends and family, cooking, as well as, all things music. “I feel like God has really put a calling for evangelism and education in my life. My goal for this summer at CSM is to touch the lives of those in Philly as well as the students coming in to do His work and show them that evangelism is alive and can happen wherever God is present (which is everywhere).”

Lindsey Marler
Lindsey is from Dayton, Ohio where she grew up with her mom, dad, two sisters, and brother. After high school, Lindsey attended Anderson University in central Indiana and is currently a senior in her last year of undergraduate work. She is studying Social Work and aspires to focus her knowledge in community development and child advocacy. Through her experience at AU, Lindsey has learned what it means to serve, love, and pray for those around her. Nothing is more important to Lindsey than her faith and obedience to Jesus Christ and her passion for community. “I am incredibly excited to learn, teach, experience, and grow this summer through the groups I will be leading and the individuals I will meet!”

Tim Monaghan
Tim is a 2008 graduate of Waynesburg University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a minor in business management. Born and raised in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, he has always been a Philadelphia boy at heart. Tim has served everywhere from West Virginia to Arizona and Mexico to Jamaica. His first experience with CSM came over spring break with Waynesburg in 2007. As a student, Tim has had the privilege to lead King’s Court, the Christian drama ministry on campus, to serve as a tutor in the business department, and to volunteer with the VITA tax preparation service. As captain of the cross country team and a member of the theatre, he happily finds very little idle time. “Philadelphia has always held a special place in my heart. After my weeklong experience with CSM, I came away peacefully exhausted. My goal this summer is to play my role in God’s plan!”
