CENTER for STUDENT MISSIONS

Emily Alton

Emily is from Murray, KY. She attended Murray State University for one year and is currently taking a break. When she returns, she will be majoring in Psychology and Youth and Non-Profit Leadership. Emily has been to Jackson, TN and Memphis, TN for mission trips, where she discovered her passion for urban missions. Emily has been on staff at Lakeshore United Methodist Assembly for the past two summers, where she has absolutely adored working with all the campers and staff. She enjoys singing, hugs, ten second dance parties, Chaco tans, hammocks, coffee, and curling up with a good book. Emily served with CSM as a City Host during Spring 2011. We are excited to have her back for Summer 2011! “I’m excited to be immersed in a new community and to learn and grow alongside the staff, leaders, and students that come to CSM. I believe that each person has a light inside their heart, and I look forward to seeing all of those lights shining in Philly! I’m so blessed to have this opportunity!”

Nicole Engelhardt - super host

Nicole is from Langhorne, PA. She was a senior at Vassar College in New York studying Biology and Secondary Education. Nicole has done a similar program in Los Angeles working with middle and high school students in preparation for doing service in Tijuana. Some of her favorite moments have been the mission trips to Maine with my youth group. She has also gotten to do some really awesome service days in Philadelphia and was even a City Host for CSM in Philadelphia last summer. Some of Nicole’s hobbies include playing lacrosse and the guitar. On campus, she organizes the Christian Fellowship’s weekly meetings. “This summer I am excited to get to know the students coming each week. I’m also passionate about breaking down the divide between the city and the nearby suburbs.”

Eunice Lee

Eunice is from Northern California, which in her opinion is the better half of California. She graduated from University of California, Berkeley in 2010 with a degree in Chemistry. Eunice has been on several mission trips to Mexico, Dominican Republic, New Orleans, and two CSM trips to the San Francisco Bay Area and Chicago. She has been involved with youth ministry serving 5th and 6th graders. She loves exploring new places, playing frisbee, biking, swimming, and eating. Eunice is excited to see how God will work in her life this summer and really see the core of Philadelphia, which will be her home for the next four years.

Chloe Peebles

Chloe is from Appleton, WI. She is entering her sophomore year at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where she is majoring in psychology and minoring in Spanish. Throughout middle school and high school, Chloe went on six mission trips: Minneapolis, Chicago (CSM), Delbarton, WV, Cass Lake, MN, Nashville (CSM), and San Francisco (CSM). She was an active participant in her high school youth group and volunteered regularly throughout her community. Chloe enjoys playing the flute, reading, experiencing new things and doing good things for others. “I am excited to spend the summer working to bring Christ’s love to the city and learning what God has in store for me!”

Holly Smith

Holly is from Monroe, Ohio (Cincinnati area). She is a sophomore at Anderson University in Anderson, IN where she is studying Social Work. Holly has been to the Bronx in NYC twice for urban missions and to South Dakota to do a VBS and work with Pass Creek Church of God on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. She went to Washington, D.C. for her spring break this year with AU and worked there through CSM. Holly has been a counselor for junior high students for two years at Camp Lebanon in Ohio and was a small group leader for junior high girls at her home church. She loves to watch movies, listen to music in most every quite moment, play every sport, literally, but baseball/softball, and read. “I’m pretty much just a typical American child from the midwest but with a pinch of sarcasm. This summer God has called me to something bigger than myself and that is exactly why He has me serving with CSM in Philadelphia. I am so excited to see what he has prepared for everyone involved.”

Nora Strunsky

Nora is from Middletown, NY. She will be a junior at Vassar College in the fall, and is majoring in chemistry. In high school, she went on two mission trips to New Orleans after hurricane Katrina, and one to Ciudad Juarez, Mexico to help build a school. At school, Nora does a lot with the Intervarsity chapter, including leading a small group which is one of her favorite things. She is also involved with a homeless ministry through her church. She thinks chemistry is fun, and can really see the beauty of God through it. Nora also loves talking to and learning about people, especially ones she has just met! “My hope for this summer is to pass on my passion for life and my love for God and for people to the students that come. I want experience what it means to really live out the Gospel in a tangible way, and guide the groups in doing the same. I am so excited to see what God has in store!”
