Washington, D.C. Summer Staff Team 2005
|
DC Staff - Top Row, left to right:
Anthony Cirillo, City Director Mark Harmon, Ashley Miller, Associate City
Director Justin Hormel, Eric Barnes;
Front Row: Rachel Branch, Jenna Grime, Erin Wehrmeister, Dawn Flandermeyer,
Megan Sterrett.
|
Rachel Branch - Rachel is
from Knoxville, Tennessee and attends the University of Tennessee at Martin.
She will be graduating in December with a degree in Human Learning K-8.
Mission trips she has been on include working in a landfill in Mexico City,
VBS in North Carolina, and home repair in rural Appalachia. She loves spending
time with her incredible family and friends, reading, and watching football;
especially the Tennessee Volunteers. "This summer I come to DC with
an open heart, ready to see what God has in store for me."
|
Anthony Cirillo - Anthony
grew up in Richmond, Virginia and is a sophomore at George Washington University
(in DC), where he's studying business administration as it relates to sports,
event and hospitality management. During his youth group years, he participated
in several mission trips including construction trips to South Carolina
and urban trips to Boston and CSM DC, CSM Philadelphia and CSM Chicago.
He enjoys hockey, music and movies. "I hope to gain new visions in
God's working. I also hope to gain the ability to better lead youth in their
faith."
|
Dawn Flandermeyer - Dawn hails from suburban
St. Charles, MO and just graduated from Hope College in Holland, MI with a
dual degree in Dance and Chemistry. This future doctor loves serving other
people and volunteers as a counselor at her local pregnancy center. She will
be entering George Washington Medical School this fall. Besides being a part
of two mission trips in college (rural Virginia and urban New York City), Dawn
led a new sacred dance mission trip to Los Angeles last year. She loves eating
Chinese food and talking about her fall semester in China to anyone who will
listen. "I'm pumped to work with a variety of groups this summer and
learn more about God's call to serve the poor."
|
Jenna Grime - Jenna is from
Archbold, Ohio but attends school in Texas at Abilene Christian University
(ACU). As an English major with a history minor, she hopes to be a grant
writer/director of social service agency someday. In high school, she went
on mission trips to Mexico and Dominican Republic and last summer was a
CSM city host in Chicago. At ACU Jenna works with other college students
going out into the Abilene community to work with elderly, homeless, and
disadvantaged kids and also is working with the Boys and Girls Club of Abilene
as a grant writer. "I'm looking forward to my experiences this summer
in D.C, seeing how God is working in the city and working with others who
have a heart for His people."
|
Eric Barnes - Eric is from Davenport,
Iowa and is currently a sophomore at Georgetown University in DC. In high
school, he went on a mission trip to Atlanta, Georgia, assisting homeless
and working in women's shelters. Last spring break, he experienced an
"Urban Plunge" through CSM. He has also been involved in his
local church and with regional youth ministry. At Georgetown, he has been
involved with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship in a small group/Bible study,
Worship Team, and next year will be on "Care Team". In his free
time he enjoys running, walking, biking, journaling, reading, and hanging
out with friends. Eric likes to play piano and sing, and can also play the
didgeridoo! "I'm excited to be living and working in community in Washington
DC, seeing transformation in students, and totally immersing myself in the
Lord's work and serving His people!"
|
Ashley Miller - Ashley was
born in Washington, D.C. but pretty much grew up in Richmond, Virginia.
She has a degree in social work from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU)
in Richmond. Ashley became interested in social work after going on a CSM
trip to D.C. with her own high school youth group. She became aware of her
desire to work with people and that she learned the most from God when she's
"outside her comfort zone." At VCU, she participated in InterVarsity
Christian Fellowship where she helped lead an outreach for non believers.
She loves the outdoors, laughing, and has recently become a Washington Nationals
fan. Between her sophomore and junior years in college she was part of CSM's
Chicago staff and now is hoping to help students open their eyes to the
joy of ministering with His "city folk."
|
Megan Sterrett - Megan is
from Richmond, VA and is a student at Virginia Commonwealth University (in
Richmond) majoring in Religious Studies and at J.S. Reynolds Junior College,
where she is studying American Sign Language. Her missions experience has
involved Habitat for Humanity, inner city VBS, conferences, choir performances,
as well as CSM DC. Megan is involved with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship
and tutors at Charity Family Life in Richmond. She loves being outdoors,
enjoys spontaneity and is a sucker for rap and "emo". "My
goal for CSM, and for life in general, is to love and serve Christ through
loving and serving others as best I can."
|
Erin Wehrmeister - Erin is
from Allen, TX (just north of Dallas) and just graduated from Texas State
University-San Marcos with a double major in Public Relations and English.
She's participated in mission trips to Cherokee, North Carolina, CSM Houston
(once as a high school student and then again in college), CSM Chicago and
twice to Acuna, Mexico with Faith Mission International. Throughout college
she was a member of a Christian sorority and this last year acted as the
Chaplain for the group. Erin describes herself as a TV junkie and likes
movies, music (especially that you can dance to). "I come to DC with
an expectant heart; I know that the Lord is going to grow me, and those
working with CSM, in amazing ways and I know from past CSM trips that you
come on these trips and cannot help but leave changed
and I praise
God for the changes He's already planned for me."
